例如，鲁迅先生《故乡》中“时候既然是深冬，渐近故乡时，天气又阴晦了，冷风吹进船舱中，呜呜地响，从蓬隙向外一望，苍黄的天底下，远近横着几个萧索的荒村，没有一丝活气。我的心禁不住悲凉起来了。”这段文字寥寥几笔，形象的勾勒了深冬故乡的荒凉景象，用词精练富有力度。“阴晦”“冷风”“苍黄”等词渲染了沉寂、荒凉的气氛，衬托出“我”的悲凉心情。特别是“横”一词形象地写出了故乡的萧条、冷落，像奄奄一息的病人，富有感染力。
