其实大部分的'章鱼都很聪明，也很胆小。章鱼是位变色能手，能几秒钟改变自己的颜色!他还喜欢钻进空贝壳，或容器里。海下如果有沉船的话，章鱼就会纷纷向里钻，不久那儿就会成了“章鱼城”。人们利用它的这个特点，用容器编成网，捕捉章鱼。
由于章鱼长相奇特，有一些电影里把它比作怪物，如《黑客帝国》里的机器章鱼，《海棉宝宝》里就有搞笑的章鱼哥。
